I grew up with practical parents, who worked with their hands. My mother is a jack-of-all-trades artist and my father a carpenter. So it was natural that I too started working with my hands. I went to a weekly art class during my school years, where I painted, drew , photographed and worked with clay. In the studio at home I had ample room for any art project I felt like pursuing. But art was never really my thing. I am no artist. Still, I have always loved beautiful things, and I have always collected, and surrounded myself with, beautiful things.

I started making dreamcatchers about 10 years ago, when I was gifted a book about how to make them. At first they were rather ugly little things, but that was from a lack of supplies rather than a lack of skill. When I had the right supplies I found making dreamcatchers to be a relaxing pastime! Crafting dreamcatchers takes a stimulating combination of skill and flair and I get to use the sense of aesthetics that I have nurtured troughout my life.

When I at 19 moved to my second home in Uppsala, Sweden to pursue an academic education, I was stunned by the sheer number of shops that sold jewelry supplies! And I could never resist buying beautiful beads! So to justify my purchases I had to make something from all of these wonderful beads! Dreamcatchers have a fair amount of beads in them, but I bought more than what I could use for dreamcatchers. So I started making beaded necklaces, at first for my own use, then for friends. But there came a time where I had all too many dreamcatchers and necklaces for my own use, and there wasn´t a friend who had not recieved several of either as gifts. To justify my continued crafting I simply had to open shop.

So here I am, with a shop of my own...

Since opening my shop I have embraced my love for rusty old junk. My mother has always found beauty in old junk, in decay, in the industrial, in concrete and rust! So lately my life has been all about rust, grime and weird old items from the nooks and crannies of my father's garage and my mother's studio. There is something wonderful about using old items, with a history, in jewelry! It feels great to take somthing old and give it new life, a new purpose and one that is sometimes very far from the original.
