The "Zen" In My Life
Fire, I love fire. The fire that comes from within a gemstone, or the sparkle of Swarovski crystal, or the glow of the metals I work with. I love it. No I'm not a pyromaniac, but I find working on jewelry as well as firing up my torch to create beautiful glass items to be a very "Zen" experience. I sit down to work and all of a sudden its many hours later.
Watching the glass transform from a breakable solid form to a molten gathering that I can manipulate - WOW! Holding a polished piece of the earth in my hand and turning it in the light, I love discovering the mysteriousness and spirituality of the stone, then it tells me how to create a piece to show off its beauty.
My studio is in an alcove on my covered patio, right outside of my music studio. I can see and smell the many flowers in my garden as I'm working... Plumeria, roses, gardenia and jasmine are some of my favorites.
When I'm not working in my jewelry studio, I'm usually performing as a vocalist at a church or with the Pacific Chorale. I also teach music, both vocal lessons and piano lessons. I also love to work in my various gardens around my home.
What a wonderful life I have!!
