Meet Dunn Rustic!
Hello All! My name is Danielle and I'm a maker of many talents. I grew up with a mom that was constantly planting the idea "maybe I could make that" into my mind at every chance she got. This idea transpired into not just a hobby, but a NEED for creating things, and a NEED for challenging myself and expanding my crafting abilities. Thus, I'm a walking definition of "Jack of all trades". With the introduction of Etsy and it's increasing popularity, my world was forever changed. The idea of custom watch boxes was 100% inspired by my watch collecting husband, Mike. In searching for the perfect box for him. I quickly found it impossible to find anything unique that would satisfy his love of quality items and unique rustic charm. With a little push from family, friends, and a failed business partnership, the seed for Gypsie Stitch was planted. I started by doing what many sellers do, and just launched a ton of my favorite things to make with no real vision in mind. Suddenly my journey as an "etsy-preneur" bloomed into something special and as I learned more about business and creating a good work flow, my shop slowly morphed into what it is now. In the beginning, I NEVER imagined that it would take me to where I am today. As of October 2016, I quit my day job and am now full time Etsy alongside my husband Mike, and our assistant Natalie. Thanks to the support of our incredible customers over the years, I get to wake up every day and do what I love for a living, while being my OWN BOSS. This business has come a long way since the beginning, and I'm beyond excited to see where it takes us.
A bit about our process:
All our boxes and home decor are completely designed by me. I took many details into account with the creation of each design option. For our watch and jewelry boxes, I wanted a style that would beautifully accent any watch or jewelry lover's collection. Our watch boxes feature large enough compartments for ALL size faces and depths of watches, while also using eco friendly materials to create the rustic element that I strive for with each box. I offer a wide range of fabrics and personalization options, to insure that all my boxes create the perfect personalized gift for all tastes. Because our business has grown so much, our designs are now built for us by a trusted manufacturer, with whom I have a very close relationship with and am in frequent correspondence. Together, we are in constant collaboration for ways to improve the existing designs, create new ones, and speed up production. All boxes arrive to me completely raw and in pieces. After which, the customizations and add ons are completed 100% by us in our home studio. We are constantly expanding and mastering our creative abilities, so I am proud to say that ALL boxes are: stained/finished, pillows sewn & stuffed, inscriptions hand burned, machine engraved, windows/glass are hand cut, chemical glass etching, compartment customizations, and hardware & embellishments added. All of it, done right in my at home studio BY HAND to create a beautiful unique box that you will cherish for years to come. This process allows for very minimal outsourcing, keeping the cost significantly lower and the list of personalization options much wider than my competitors. A bit about the materials we use:
All our boxes are made from either pine or bamboo. We love crating with bamboo as it is a sustainable and renewable resource with a low carbon footprint. We also try to choose the most eco friendly options for all of our packing and shipping materials. This includes bubble wrap made from recycled plastic, compostable mailers, and recyclable cardboard and paper.
