Artist Focusing On Natural Components
Welcome to Earthy Imaginations' Etsy shop! My work covers a wide range including soy candle making; pouring resin settings of natural things such as mushrooms & flowers; building terrariums; pressing flowers; sculpture; mosaics; wire wrapping; mushroom photography; sewing; painting; but I especially LOVE to work with beads!
Over the years my driftwood beaded sun catchers have become my signature creation. Each piece of wood gets washed in a mild vinegar bath and oven dried. I use solid color glass beads only (none dyed), crystals, gemstones, wooden beads, ceramic beads, & metal beads. I don't use any plastics or acrylic beads for they fade in the sun. While a majority of my beads are purchased, I am always collecting things from nature to blend into my work. My homemade beads are fashioned from stones, nuts, seeds, pits, shells, tiny pine cones, curls of bark, & tiny bits of driftwood. Wire wrapped lake glass and wild feathers collected from my property are also some of the treasures that are incorporated into my work.
I love everything about making my sun catchers from searching the local lakeshores for driftwood, to stringing the glass and crystal beads, to adding the gemstones and other natural details, to finally making sure they are balanced just right. I connect with each piece in a way that I cannot describe.
They appear different throughout the day depending on what type of light it's catching. During the day the sun catches all the transparent beads creating a glowing appearance while the crystals sparkle and cast little rainbows around the room. At night the opaque & aurora borealis finished beads come out more while the crystals twinkle. I take custom orders if you would like a particular color scheme or have a special piece of wood you always held onto that would like to become one of my sun catchers.
My soy candles are made with 100% natural soy wax, high temperature paper wick with a cotton braid (no metal), soy based fragrance, dyes that meet CA prop 65, triple scented and done in one pour. The scent is true all the way to the bottom! Unscented is available for those with sensitivities. Every scent available has been burned & tested by me. Burns for 75 hours or more. Hand poured in small artisan batches.
My hand carved hair sticks are made from hardwood only. They started out as something I made for myself until others started asking me to make them one, often the reason behind most of my creatives. Some I literally start by peeling the bark off while some are repurposed from other projects such as my coffee table! I often embellish them with wire wrapped gemstones & crystals or wild feathers collected from my property that go through a special cleaning process. I like to keep them as natural as possible using a beeswax finish baked in. I don't shellac them or use mineral oil ever :)
Making purses started back in high school! My purses & handbags are designed and sewn by me with exceptional quality. I have a huge collection of fabric from over the years mostly vintage but also newer and upcycled fabrics. All sorts of embellishments including beads, vintage lace & buttons. I have many designs and always recreating but particularly love to patchwork. All my patchwork is double sewn for extra stability. I take custom orders including special occasion purses to match your dress such as prom & weddings.
My hand painted wooden paisley's are something new of mine. Years ago while searching the lakeshore for my driftwood, I found this wooden paisley hand painted with folk art and dated 1957, maybe 1967. I believe it found me for the intention of me to recreate them! I have so many ideas I've begun sketching them down. This is just the beginning to my wooden paisley wall décor. They are hand cut, sanded, & painted by me with a hanger on the back ready to be hung! :)
The name Earthy Imaginations seemed most fitting to me as it best represents my passion for nature which I incorporate into all of my work aesthetics and for environmental awareness.
Foraging for natural components and creating works of art gives me joy, peace, and tranquility and it is my sincere hope that when you wear clothing or jewelry I have crafted or hold a piece of my artwork in your home, that it brings you joy, peace, and tranquility too.
