artisan jewelry with a playful design for statement and every day wear
My love for beautiful jewelry started in my grandma's jewelry box. I have fond memories of being a kid playing dress-up at her house wearing probably two pounds of her vintage costume jewelry at once. Even my grandpa would feed my jewelry addiction by bringing home a cup-o-jewelry or two from whatever recent auction sale he'd been to - a stash which I would pick through and repurpose to make into something even more glorious to wear. I gasp thinking of the gorgeous vintage jewelry that I simply lost in the grass while playing outside!
Along the way I started making my own jewelry, after being unable to find just the right pieces I wanted to wear. When I inherited my grandma's button box, filled with the most beautiful collection of vintage buttons and beads - rhinestones, Bakelite, mother-of-pearl - they were all too beautiful to leave stashed away, I wanted to make a wearable piece that would show them off. I used them to construct my first cha-cha bracelet, and it's a fun and sparkly evening piece infused with nostalgia that I love to wear when I'm dressing up.
I started an adventure into the world of silversmithing, which allows me to create jewelry with torch and hammer, and I love the dichotomy of a beautiful shiny piece of jewelry rising from the dust and tools. My grandma’s influence comes through in the Art Deco and Mid Century Modern style of many of my pieces. I like to create unique designs for today’s woman with a nod to retro style. Part of my collection features “intention” jewelry, rings and bracelets which I hand-stamp with empowering intentional words. I have recently begun to play with kinetic jewelry in the form of a “fidget ring,” which features discs that spin; I aim to expand my kinetic collection in the future. I also like to incorporate vintage elements and upcycled materials where I can in an elegant way. Strong women deserve singular jewelry.
I enjoy the time I spend creating these pieces, from the search for beautiful foundation elements to the design and construction of the finished products. Having pretty things around us makes us feel good, and I hope you will feel beautiful wearing my jewelry.
