My etsy shop is the result of a lifetime of creative problem solving. I've always been keen on both the scientific and artistic sides of life, and thus decided to pursue my BA in both Biology and Studio Art, followed by an MFA in Fine Art with a concentration in Conceptual Video.
Having accidentally stumbled into being an "army wife," I feel SO blessed to have the opportunity to cultivate a business that can move and evolve with our lifestyle. Etsy has been the best outlet to display and sell my handmade goods. While it's both challenging and nerve-wracking to put yourself and your work out for the world, it's also something that I genuinely enjoy waking up for each and every day. In fact, I wish there were more hours in the day so that I could spend more time in my studio...
Having the most masculine sounding name ever (Tyler England), it was decided to launch my etsy shop after one of our four furbabies. I've always loved the name Emerson, unfortunately my husband 'vetoed' it as a potential future daughter name. Unwilling to let it go, I was able to convince James to let us name our dumpster-orphan-turned-diva cat 'Emmy Kate.' We liked the idea of her having a super polished name, despite her humble beginnings, and the name has only grown on us since. Also, the name has definitely ended up being a self-fulfilling prophecy because Emmy has definitely become the prima-donna of the household with "tortitude" and all.
