“Every child is an artist; the problem is staying an artist when you grow up” – Pablo Picasso.
I have wanted to be an artist for as long as I can remember. Every Career Day, I would put on a beret, tie an apron around my waist, and stuff it with paint brushes. I was completely captivated by trying to make my pencils and brushes perform what my eyes could see. To this day, I am constantly trying to channel that child-like eagerness to learn more in my field.
My devotion to art has led me to explore many avenues throughout my career. I have grown from painter, to photographer, to digital print-maker and textile artist, to finally combining them all as a graphic artist. Graphic technology has made art more accessible than ever. One painting can become accessible to thousands rather than a single patron or gallery. Incorporating technology into my work opened new opportunities for me in terms of digital distribution and the ability to market my skills in new ways. I discovered that my art could be transformed into stationery, wrapping paper, or fabric. This is what inspired me to open my own creative small business Emily Kaye Studio in 2015.
At Emily Kaye Studio, I create bespoke invitations, stationery, wrapping paper, and custom portraiture. I also offer creative services such as branding, graphic design, and social media consultation. By developing my skills over the past nine years in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects, I am now able to merge my artistic abilities into several industries.
