Hobby to passion
I started making dog collars a few years ago as a hobby. Previously, I didn't even know how to operate a sewing machine, but I decided I wanted to give it a go! I saved some money and purchased my first heavy duty home sewing machine and, with the help of several online videos, I made my first collar! I'll admit, it wasn't the greatest, but it was a start. Over the course of several months, I perfected my technique and started selling a few collars here and there through various Facebook groups.
A few months ago I decided it was time to try and get more serious about selling collars, and opened up my Etsy shop, Enchanted Dog Design (Named after my kennel name Enchanted Mountains Great Danes).
I've recently started branching out and sewing other items, such as fabric coasters, bowl cozies and pot holders, and also recently purchased an embroidery machine! What started as a "we'll see what happens" thing has truly turned into something I enjoy doing in my spare time.
The greatest part about this venture so far, aside from the happy customers, is that I've been able to use the profits I've made to pay for costs related to showing my dogs, which truly is my passion!
