EscapePod

I am passionate about many things in my life (my children, my home, the environment, politics, dark chocolate, Venn diagrams, taking risks, avoiding risks, olives, Scrabble, Norway, writing long lists...) but one of my favorite passions is design. Really good, really useful design. Being surrounded by good design, whether it is in the tools we use, the clothes we wear, or the rooms we live in, can transform our mood. It can, in fact, transform our lives.

Early on, I began working as a freelance artist, picking up work here and there in both illustration and web design. In 2006 I opened my first shop here on Etsy, crafting handmade notecards and envelopes with my own original designs. As my business began to grow and my design sensibilities evolved, I longed to take those same designs to a wider audience. And so EscapePod was born.

Today, EscapePod allows me to combine many of my passions -- creating the type of clean design I love and doing it on a very human scale. I love working one-on-one with my customers to create something they are excited about having in their lives. I enjoy bringing my small, local business to a worldwide audience. I work in the most environmentally conscious way possible, and constantly strive to reduce my impact even further. But most of all I love having the chance to explore new directions and have my work change and evolve, becoming a better artist because of it.
