Why Everyday Care Tools Exists
Everyday Care Tools began with someone I love—and one sentence I'll never forget.
I watched someone I care deeply about struggle to navigate a healthcare system while living with severe, progressively worsening pain. They knew exactly what they were experiencing, but pain, fear, stress, and uncertainty made it incredibly difficult to explain how much it was affecting their everyday life.
As their condition worsened, they became increasingly overwhelmed—not only by the physical pain, but by trying to communicate with healthcare providers and their employer. They feared losing their job and struggled to explain the true impact their condition was having on their ability to work and function each day.
It wasn't because they didn't understand their own experience. It was because when you're overwhelmed, exhausted, and trying to navigate a complex healthcare system, it's incredibly difficult to find the right words at the right time.
One day, they said something I'll never forget:
"I wish I knew how to use all of the knowledge you have so that I knew how to use it."
That sentence changed everything.
I began asking myself a simple question:
How do I take everything I've learned over the years and turn it into something people can actually use when they're overwhelmed?
I realized that many people don't need more medical information.
They need practical tools that help them organize their thoughts, communicate clearly, and confidently navigate a healthcare system that can feel incredibly complex, especially when they're overwhelmed.
While that experience inspired Everyday Care Tools, it wasn't where my journey began.
For more than 15 years, I've worked alongside individuals and families navigating healthcare, disability services, mental health, aging, and community-based supports. Throughout my career, I've helped develop individualized support plans, advocate for accommodations and services, coordinate care, assist with exceptional needs requests, and support people through some of life's most challenging transitions.
I've had the privilege of helping establish a licensed adult mental health group home from the ground up, supporting individuals transitioning from state hospitals back into community living, coordinating care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, working in memory care and senior care, and helping individuals access home and community-based services.
Across every role, one thing has remained the same:
Helping people navigate complex systems with greater confidence.
Those experiences taught me that healthcare isn't just about diagnoses or treatments. It's about helping people feel heard, understood, and prepared and empowered to advocate for themselves.
That's why I created Everyday Care Tools.
Our mission is simple:
Making healthcare easier to navigate.
Every resource is designed to be practical, customizable, and flexible because no two healthcare journeys are the same.
My hope is that these tools help you feel more organized, more prepared, more confident and more empowered to advocate for yourself and the people you love.
Thank you for allowing Everyday Care Tools to be a small part of your healthcare journey.
