I have been sewing since the age of 5. My mother has been my greatest inspiration as she made clothing for herself, my two sisters and me. She taught me how to make all of my own clothing. And, by the age of 12, I purchased my first sewing machine. By that time, I was making all of my clothes virtually unassisted.

My grandmother also was quite the seamstress. Not only did she make her own clothing, but she also made beautiful quilts. I was always fascinated with quilting; but, as a young adult, I never could find the time to learn this craft. All of that changed in 2008. I took an early retirement from my accounting career and took a quilting course at The Scarlet Thread in Webster, New York. I’ve been quilting ever since.
In 2011, I began my quilting business. I have sold my quilts mainly in shops around the Rochester, New York and Finger Lakes area. On December 5, 2012, I opened Expression Quilts on Etsy.

I enjoy creating unique, quilted products. Fabrics drive my passion for building quilts. Experimenting with color and patterns has allowed me to express my creativity.

I have developed my own, unique quilting style. Many of my quilted products are completed using “free motion quilting.” This is a technique whereby the feed dogs on the sewing machine are dropped and the operator self directs the fabric at will. I thoroughly enjoy this technique as it allows me to add one more dimension to my finished product.

With proper care, my quilts are made to last for many years and can be passed on to the next generation. Quilts add so much to a home – style, warmth, comfort and memories. I hope I can bring that experience to you as well.

All of my products are made in my pet-free, smoke-free home.
