I've always loved to craft things. My mom taught me to sew when I was very young - when it was still an affordable thing to do (my how things have changed!). She bought me my first sewing machine when I had my daughter 25 years ago. My skills developed as I sewed for my daugher and me. My machines have gotten fancier but I still love sewing for families and their homes. I start by designing things I would like to have in my life. Sometimes it's hard to say goodbye to them!
Starting FMM Material Girl on Etsy felt very natural as I'm sort of a geek. My husband teases me about my love of gadgets and technology! It's been very satisfying setting up my store, images, logos, and more - stretching all sorts of skill sets that would otherwise go unused on a day-to-day basis!
Through Etsy I feel I am able to connect with the entire world with things I make myself. My current home is in the beautiful sub-arctic boreal forest of Northern Alberta, Canada. It is a little remote here and shopping for supplies can be a challenge. It leads to some fun shopping vacations! My online store allows me to connect with my customers and ensure they have a positive shopping experience with me. It also allows me to connect with other sellers to stay on-top of my business.
