About time
Hi my name is Richard Whitehead and I have recently turned an idea and a bit of a dream into a reality.
I have always thought of making things out of wood ever since I got my Woodwork and Technical Drawing ‘O’ level back in the day!!
I am that guy you might have seen looking in a chest of drawers to see if there are dovetail joints, looking at pieces of wood from different angles, thinking ‘what could I do with this?’or picking up massed produced wooden products and thinking ‘ too perfect, too common and this has no soul.
Most of my wood has been sourced locally from a community non for profit, recycling wood yard, some has been given to me from family and friends with the odd piece picked up from the most unlikely places!
After 27 years working for various local authorities in the North East I have taken the decision to turn off my computer and pick up my jig saw. To me woodworking is therapeutic, creative and completely rewarding.
The name Faber comes from the Latin word for Carpenter and whilst I am a bit of a newbe to the craft I am loving it and learning as I go along.
My pieces are not perfect, maybe a little rough around the edges but that is what makes them unique and interesting.
I truly hope that you enjoy the piece that you have bought as much as I have making it. If you have any items that you would like made, please contact me to chat about it.
Kind Regards
Richard.
