Story Behind the Unbreakable
Growing up, it was a constant frustration of mine: losing sacramentals or always having them get in the way. As a Catholic and creative person, I had to come up with a solution. I mean, the point of wearing a scapular medal is to wear it all the time, right? Between farming, running, construction framing, and adventuring in the woods, a delicate piece of jewelry or thick jangley chain wasn't going to cut it. I needed something light, durable, comfortable, close fitting, AND classy; something I never had to worry about.
After lots of thinking, trial and error, "The Necklace that Won't Break" became a reality! I made my first one back in 2014 and wore it constantly until 2020 when I merely decided to update the look. Over those 6 years, I put my necklace to the test. I even learned a medal can wear out if it isn't actually fixed to the necklace and is instead left to dangle and swing as is the case for nearly all necklacess. To elaborate, the tiny hole on top of a medal will eventually wear thin and the medal will just drop off completely from all the swaying back and forth. After almost losing mine (touched to over 100 relics!), I fabricated a reliable method of securing my medal to the paracord that keeps it from literally wearing itself off due to friction. Since, I have had ZERO issues whatsoever. My medal stayed put. Years later, I still wore my necklace day in and day out. (I would also still recieve compliments and interest :)
Sacramentals are like spiritual weapons, so "put on the full armor of God" (Eph. 6:11) and "fear not, for I am with you" (Is 41:10).
Many blessings to you, and may you become ever stronger in the Lord!
