A mom's plan for fewer screen battles
Hi, I'm a stay-at-home mom of two boys here in Houston, Texas. Like a lot of tired parents, I used to fight the same screen time battle every night: "five more minutes," meltdowns over video games, and "I'm bored" the second the tablet went off.
What finally changed our house wasn't stricter rules. It was having something better ready. We started small: a song on the keyboard once a week, Saturday morning runs, dominoes after dinner. Slowly, the screen fights faded and the boys started coming to us with "hey, watch this."
I turned everything that worked into simple, printable tools for other families with kids ages 8 to 12:
• Family screen time agreements and weekly planners
• Screen-free activity cards and low-prep activity ideas
• Calm transition scripts for ending video games without a fight
• Life skills, hobby discovery, and family project printables
• The 30-Day Family Reset workbook and the Complete Family Toolkit
Every printable is an instant digital download. Type in the fillable fields, write in GoodNotes or Notability, or print at home on US Letter paper.
No guilt, no extreme bans. Just small daily steps toward less scrolling and more creating, connecting, and growing together.
