Finding my way back to creativity and joy
In 2013, I left academia with a new graduate degree, and then immediately placed it in my closet.
During the thesis writing process, I'd taken a weekly metal class at the local art league, re-discovering my 'hobby' of making jewelry. (As a teenager, I'd made polymer clay leaf pins from Lord of the Rings. I gifted them to friends and family, and even sold a few online!)
Being a passionate fan, I love wearables that remind me of my favorite things. So I decided the creative path was for me! As a PWD (person with a disability), not only does creating things bring me joy, but it also allows me to set my own pace and hours. Win-win! [If you are a PWD interested in supporting yourself through Etsy, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. Just send me a message ;) ]
I find my inspiration through love of videogames, animation, film, comics, and TV. I'm constantly finding new things to stream in my workshop as I work. It all counts as research, right? ;)
I believe that the quality of design, authenticity, and attention to detail are best when a piece is made by a real, honest-to-goodness fan.
