To Be Like a Fawn
In my third pregnancy I developed a condition called Pregnancy Prurigo where around 29 weeks I began itching my palms and feet incessantly, it got worse and worse and made me very anxious. I needed something to take my mind off the itching and so I taught myself how to watercolor. I began using it as a meditative/prayerful time and during that time my itching ceased. When my kids napped, I painted and each quote I painted was a fruit of my prayer.
Fawnly was born out of a desire to share that sacred space in my life with others and hopefully help them to find a place of peace and stillness in their own lives. Fawnly comes from Psalm 42:2 where it says, "As a deer longs for running streams, so I long for you oh God." I reflected a lot on the disposition of that deer and imagined myself more as a fawn because of my littleness and weakness throughout that pregnancy. I believe we all long for God, some of us just don't know it's God we are longing for and we go looking in the wrong places. I pray that my work can help bring us back to that longing and that we can be like the fawn thirsting for flowing streams and trust that He will satiate that thirst.
