Welcome to FHAR Studio
FHAR Studio is my one-woman ceramic studio in Santa Monica, California, where I make playful, tactile, and quietly unexpected pieces for everyday life.
My journey to ceramics began in 2019, after years working as a sculptor and prop maker in the film and entertainment industry. With a background in Fine Art, I have always been drawn to making things with my hands, but ceramics gave me a new way to bring together sculpture, function, and storytelling. What started as an experiment with clay eventually became the work I wanted to dedicate myself to full time.
The name FHAR comes from my initials and honors my grandmothers, Huguette and Andrée—two entrepreneurial women whose independence, strength, and love of family have always inspired me. As a French woman building a life in the United States, those values are a meaningful part of who I am and how I approach my work.
Living in Los Angeles also finds its way into my ceramics. I love the contrast between my French roots and my California surroundings, and I’m constantly experimenting with shape, texture, color, and glaze. My work moves between minimal and quirky, refined and playful, always with a little bit of whimsy.
Everything in my shop is designed and made by me in my small Santa Monica studio, starting with a simple ball of clay. I personally throw, trim, carve, glaze, fire, and finish each piece. Small variations and imperfections are part of the process—and part of what makes handmade ceramics special.
My functional pieces are made to become part of everyday rituals: a plate at the dinner table, a little vessel on a shelf, or an object you reach for every day. I want them to be practical and beautiful, but also to bring a little joy to ordinary moments.
Alongside my functional ceramics, I make one-of-a-kind porcelain sculptures. These are where I let my imagination wander a little further—creating strange, playful, sometimes surreal objects that don't necessarily need to serve a purpose other than making you smile, wonder, or look twice.
Whether it's something for your table, your home, or simply something that made you laugh, I hope my work brings a little beauty and personality into your everyday life.
