The Story Behind FIBER & STONE
♥ FIBER & STONE began in 2010, in the quiet season of early motherhood. I was a stay-at-home mom with a newborn and a toddler, and most of my creative time happened late at night, after the house had finally settled and my children were asleep. In those still hours, I returned to the work I loved most: making something beautiful with my hands. What began as a simple online gallery for my small fiber artworks slowly became something much more meaningful—a way to support my family, share my creative voice, and begin my journey as an online shop owner.
♥ With a background in fiber art, sculpture, and web development, Etsy gave me a place where creativity and entrepreneurship could meet. I learned how to build a small business one piece, one customer, and one lesson at a time. In 2017, I placed my shop on vacation mode and closed my website so I could focus on my health. That pause was long and necessary, but my love for making never left me. In 2024, I reopened FIBER & STONE with a grateful heart and a renewed sense of purpose. Being able to create and share my work again feels like returning to a part of myself.
♥ I am a fiber artist with an MFA in Fibers and Sculpture from the University of North Texas. My work is rooted in natural materials—silk, linen, wool, cotton, and other fibers chosen for their texture, softness, strength, and natural beauty. My training in textile design, fabric design, and sculpture taught me to think carefully about form, movement, color, texture and volume. Over the years, customer requests have also shaped my creative path in a very personal way. Many of my favorite designs grew from real needs, meaningful occasions, and the stories people brought to me.
♥ One of the most rewarding parts of this work is seeing where my pieces go after they leave my studio. When customers send photos, kind messages, or stories about how they used a handmade flower for a wedding, a gift, a keepsake, a costume, or a special moment, I am reminded that handmade objects can carry tenderness, memory, and meaning. Those connections encourage me deeply. They are the reason I continue to create each piece with patience, care, and an open heart.
♥ At FIBER & STONE, each handcrafted flower is made from semi-translucent silk fabrics selected for their delicate beauty and soft, luminous quality. Every petal is individually dyed, cut, shaped, layered, and assembled by hand. This slow and thoughtful process allows each flower to develop its own character. No two are ever exactly alike, and that is part of what makes them special. Each one carries the touch of the maker, the nature of the material, and the quiet charm of something made with intention.
♥ Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about my work. The FIBER & STONE Flora Collection is created with fine silk, high-quality materials, and a deep respect for the beauty of handmade craft. I stand behind every piece I make, and I truly want you to feel delighted with your flower. If you have a question, a special request, or a story behind the piece you are choosing, please feel free to reach out. It would be an honor to create something meaningful for you.
