From Minnesota to Texas through Georgia

I've been playing with fibers most of my life, starting with daisy chains in the pasture. Throughout my schooling and a couple of major careers I improvised, designed and won a huge bunch of ribbons at the Minnesota State Fair. Knitting was then a favorite pastime. Then it was time to do my own designing instead of reproducing the efforts of others. Dolls and toys were favorite subjects for quite a while and were the subjects of the first patterns I published for sale. I also created in pettipoint.

Thinking about retirement, I moved to Coastal Georgia where I promptly got bored and started a bead shop, The Beaded Lizard. At the time I opened it, it was the only bead shop between Atlanta and Jacksonville. Now there are bead shops all over Georgia. During the years I owned The Beaded Lizard I continued to play with fibers but added beads to the mix and learning a new skill, knotting. I love to knot prayer beads, both Anglican and Catholic which creates a meditative quiet. I also prefer knotted necklaces or bracelets because of the lovely draping quality.

I no longer work in the retail environment of a shop, but Fiber Figments works very well for me, and customers have been very receptive to my work, and I have one wholesale account as well. St. David's in Austin carries my hand knotted prayer beads exclusively.
