Firefly Sky Design is 10 years old!
Hello! Welcome to Firefly Sky Design (DBA Painted Turtle Illustration) and thanks for stopping by! We launched in August of 2016 and grateful to still be growing and changing.
We are Leane and Kate. We started as a Mother/Daughter team and are located in the great state of Maine. I (Leane) am a watercolor and children's book illustrator with a background in Early Childhood Education. I also work as a library aide in the children's room of my local library. I've illustrated two award-winning picture books called Shy Mama's Halloween and The Carpet Boy's Gift. We began the business with a line of family tee shirts and a small greeting card line. Kate is a certified Elementary teacher and has taught English as a Second Language and first grade. Kate built our website and ran the marketing and customer service side of the biz.
When her time at home with her young daughters came to an end and she returned to the classroom and has stepped back for now, but is still involved with many of the business decisions. Younger daughter Meg has started helping her Mama with marketing, yay! We look forward to growing this small business, working hard to offer a lot of new designs and products.
