Thanks for visiting First On East!
A lot of people first ask what "First On East" means so here is a little tidbit of how I came up with the name. We purchased a home in a historic district located in Upstate New York. Our house was not the first one on the street but it was one of the first few! Since it is our first house and we desire to be entrepreneurs, with Etsy being our first business, I came up with "First On East."
In addition to running our shop, I am an accountant during the day time hours. You may be wondering how accounting and art mix.. Art was my first love until I realized that it probably wouldn't help me get a real job to be able to pay for college.. So I moved on to Accounting and Business Administration. Everything you see on our page is fully designed, printed, packaged and shipped by me!
I first purchased a laser engraver with the thoughts of creating multi layer maps. That all changed when I randomly decided to make a bookmark with Gus' (my first Golden Retriever) head illustrated on a stack of books. The bookmarks have received such great feedback that I have moved on to making more breeds with images to reference supplied by friends and family.
One of my favorite parts about being a shop owner is hearing how loved our creations are by our customers and/or who the items are gifted to. I have tons of ideas flowing and I'm not sure where we will go from here but I hope you join me to see how it goes!
