Real liquid soap has a pH in the range of 9.5 - 10. My liquid soap tends to be around pH 9.5. Real liquid soap that is forced to a lower pH will separate into layers of its original components: oil and base. Only synthetic liquid detergents can achieve more neutral pH.

There is no synthetic scent or perfume added to any of the liquid bath or hair soaps. They have a very light, natural smell of the honey that is cooked in the liquid soap paste. The conditioning hair rinse has fragrance from the essential oils added, though they are not added for fragrance but for their healthy hair benefits. Foaming hand soaps and dish soaps are available in a variety of scents using only organic essential oils or organic, food grade extracts.

Certified organic ingredients have been chosen in every case they are available with the exception of the local raw honey and palm glycerin. In those cases Florida Scrub has opted for superior non-GMO palm glycerin, locally harvested honey and wild harvested Tussah silk.

Liquid soaps suds differently than synthetic detergents. First, understand that the amount of bubbles does not equal the amount of cleaning power. You may need to use a little more real liquid soap to get the big, fluffy bubbles that synthetic detergents have made us accustomed to. My liquid soap formulas tend to form small, creamy bubbles and not the big fluffy bubbles that synthetic detergents make. Let's face it, a couple of drops of the synthetic stuff can cover the world in bubbles, and bubbles are lovely and fun, but they're still synthetic chemicals you're absorbing into your body through your skin. With real liquid soap bubbles tend to form better when bath poufs or natural sea sponges, which are recommended, are used.

The short answer is yes. I think a little more explanation is warranted. The nature of real liquid soap is to remain in paste form until just enough water is added to make it into a liquid. This means that no matter how concentrated the liquid soap is, it will still be more "watery" than the thick synthetic goo that is passed off as soap these days. With the addition of honey, Florida Scrub liquid soap does have some body to it, but it is still on the thinner side. The squirt nozzle included on all bottles does a good job of conserving the amount of soap that is dispensed and allows you to pinpoint where and how much soap you need. Adding a teaspoon of regular table salt to the bath formulas will thicken them somewhat.

Once your hair is dry there will be no vinegar smell at all. If there is you haven't rinsed well enough. After your hair is dry there will be a very light scent of the essential oils used in the conditioning rinse. If you use any styling products in your hair they will most likely cover any light scent from the conditioning rinse.

Different oils produce different color soaps. For example, 100% coconut oil produces a beautiful crystal clear soap that is as clear as water. Olive oil produces a yellow with greenish tint soap. Some Florida Scrub soaps have honey in the soap paste and some have honey added after the soap paste is made into liquid soap. In addition, these are small batch, handmade soaps, and although the utmost care is taken and highly accurate scales are used to measure ingredients down to the grams, it is natural for slight variations to occur. All of these things contribute to the varying colors of the different soap forumlas Florida Scrub makes.
