The beach will ALWAYS be our happy place.
Growing up in Florida, the beach was woven into so many of our childhood memories. My sister and I spent countless days running across the scolding hot sand, waves knocking us down before we could recover, seaweed brushing against our legs, tied into the excitement of discovering a shell we had never found before.
Somehow, even after a mouthful of saltwater (or two) we always wanted to stay a little longer. The ocean is magic like that. Those memories eventually became the inspiration behind Florida Shell Sisters.
We combined our lifelong love of our beaches with our interest in home decor, to create pieces that celebrate the natural beauty of seashells and sea life in a way that feels timeless and curated.
Some of my favorite memories are of walking the beaches of Sanibel Island until my feet were sore from the shells beneath them, stopping every few steps and calling out “sea glass!” whenever I spotted even the smallest piece. I still feel that same excitement today when I come across a piece. Whenever we visit a new beach, I find myself noticing the colors, textures, shells, and little details that might eventually inspire something new for the shop.
That sense of discovery is still at the heart of what we create. Our hope is that a Florida Shell Sisters piece brings a little of that feeling into your home—the nostalgia of a favorite beach vacation, the calm of being near the water, or simply the beauty of something collected from the natural world.
