Fondata nel 2007 dal pluripremiato designer Yaling Hou, Flowie porta uno stile dolce e rinfrescante a borse e accessori, molti dei quali con serigrafia a mano. Tutti i prodotti sono interamente realizzati a mano (e realizzati su ordinazione) nello studio californiano di Flowie. I prodotti Flowie sono stati pubblicati su Sunset Magazine, 7x7SF, Daily Candy e Country Living.

Nato e cresciuto a Taiwan, Yaling Hou amava disegnare e cucire fin dalla tenera età. Si è trasferita a San Francisco per studiare design quando aveva 21 anni, dopo aver conseguito una laurea in inglese. La sua vita ha preso una svolta interessante, tuttavia, con Yaling che ha conseguito due master presso la San Francisco State University (MA in TESOL e MA in Instructional Technology). Infine, nel 2005, Yaling è tornata a scuola per perseguire la sua passione per il design. Ha scelto il design tessile perché le ha permesso di combinare il suo amore per il graphic design e la moda. Yaling ha conseguito il suo BFA in Applied Textiles presso l'Academy of Art University di San Francisco nel 2007. È stata nominata vincitrice del primo premio al SURTEX 2007 International Student Design Competition e ha fondato la società di lifestyle Flowie nello stesso anno.

Founded in 2007 by award-winning designer Yaling Hou, Flowie brings sweet and refreshing style to bags and accessory products, many featuring hand silk-screening. All products are entirely made by hand (and made-to-order) in Flowie’s California studio. Flowie products have been featured in Sunset Magazine, 7x7SF, Daily Candy, and Country Living.
About Yaling Hou, Flowie Owner
Born and raised in Taiwan, Yaling Hou loved to draw and sew from an early age. She moved to San Francisco to study design when she was 21, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in English. Her life took an interesting turn, however, with Yaling earning two master’s degrees from San Francisco State University (MA in TESOL and MA in Instructional Technology). Finally, in 2005, Yaling returned to school to pursue her passion for design. She chose textile design because it allowed her to combine her love for graphic design and fashion. Yaling earned her BFA in Applied Textiles from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2007. She was named grand prize winner in the SURTEX 2007 International Student Design Competition and formed the Flowie lifestyle company in the same year.
