Frequently asked questions

$5 of every purchase is donated to charity:

For every piece you buy, we will donate $5 to a grassroots animal welfare organization. We are currently helping:

Crossroads Campus in Nashville, Tennessee (dogs)
Pawsitive Beginnings (cats, unicorns)
Women 4 Oceans (whales)
Animals Asia (elephants, bears)

We have previously helped:

The Humane League, Rescue Center Costa Rica, The CARE Foundation, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Franklin's Friends, A Purposeful Rescue, Blockhead Brigade, Pasadena Humane Society, Texas Litter Control, Women 4 Oceans, Iruka & Kujira Action Network, Animals Asia

We use organic cotton:

Cotton is the most common natural fiber in the world, and it is plant-based.

As animal lovers, we think it is important to use organic cotton, because not only does it use less water, but it has no pesticides, insecticides, herbicides or Genetically Modified Organisms.

These toxins are harmful in so many ways. First to the farmers who grow and produce the crops. Second to us, who are wearing the final products. And third, to the entire wildlife ecosystem, flowing into runoff water, or being ingested by plants and animals.

Only 1% of all cotton is grown organically. We believe as a brand that it is important to provide you with options that include organic cotton. Together we can support movement toward a more eco conscious world.

We use recycled plastic:

Have you noticed plastic bottles, containers, or utensils littering what was once a beautiful serene beach? Perhaps it’s because enough plastic is dumped into the ocean to fill one garbage truck per minute!

We personally are especially alarmed by the number of animals who die from mistaking plastic to be food while it’s floating in the ocean. The Earth Day Network states that animals who eat plastic often starve because they can’t digest the plastic and it fills their stomachs, preventing them from eating real food.

When we learned that clothing can be made from recycled plastic, we were excited to see the possibilities.

We use ethical suppliers:

We use American suppliers. The apparel is either manufactured in the USA (Royal Apparel), or in the Dominican Republic (Alternative Apparel). Our manufacturers have ethical and eco conscious practices at the core of their business models.

Our organic brand labels are made by another Etsy shop in Massachusetts. They're sewn on by us here in Los Angeles. Our ink is made by a company in North Carolina. It's non-toxic water-based, and Brandy prints the items in Los Angeles. We also use eco conscious printing supplies for our painting process.

Our labels and activity cards are made by a printing company in Las Vegas that focuses on eco conscious printing practices.

Our website hosting company is also focused on green web hosting practices.

We changed our name!

Were you looking for Trendy Little Sweethearts? We have rebranded! We will continue to sell our eco conscious clothing to help animals under the title "For Animals. For Earth." - We have also started a blog that will be full of simple ideas for busy people to help animals. Everything from conscious living, to vegetarian and gluten free recipes, to reiki and meditation with animals. I hope you'll join us! More at bit.ly/tls-rebrand

We're not perfect, but we're trying.

We purchased most of our inventory in 2016 and are still working through it to avoid waste. Some items already have Trendy Little Sweethearts (our old brand name) printed or sewn on them. We appreciate your flexibility if your item is labeled Trendy Little Sweethearts. We are the same company - just changed names!

We are also working through our plastic shipping envelopes. We didn't actually know about compostable mailers when we purchased our supplies five years ago. Once we have finished up our current packaging inventory, we will be purchasing eco conscious packaging too.

Please reach out with any questions. We are constantly learning.
