The ethos of our shop is very straightforward - The customer comes first no matter what. After nearly nine years, over 5000 sales and 1550 perfect reviews from our fabulous customers, the numbers speak for themselves. You will not have a bad experience in our shop.

It all began for us way back in England, where Ella and I (Ed) spent most of our lives.

We have always been passionate about vintage and antiques. The feeling you get when you find something you love from bygone days is difficult to beat. Whether it is found in an expensive antique shop or a dusty pile in a dark corner of of a junk shop, the feeling is just as good...

In the early days, we naturally focused on things that were made before quality and individuality were abandoned in favor of mass production and profit.....

Then over the years fashion and styles evolved, and we all discovered the beauty of kitsch, retro and "shabby chic" styles, previously overlooked by a world full of conventional antique dealers.

There is nothing quite like the magic of a worn old chair that has been used for many years, reupholstered a couple of times and repaired by a loving owner, rather than discarded when it's just a few years old.

I personally discovered this magic in a big way when I bought an early 1900's chef knife here in France, about 7 years ago. The blade had widened at the top through years of hammering and was very patinated, yet it had a keen edge and had obviously been used right up until I bought it. Then there was the handle...

After I got home I was admiring the knife, and I held it in my hand as if I was going to use it. As soon as I held it correctly I could feel wear in the wooden handle which told me that it had been held by the same right hand for many many years, probably a lifetime. If I was left handed I may not have realized this.

That hand must have been roughly the same size as mine - my hand fitted around the handle so perfectly and better than anything I could have bought new in a store at any price - It felt more like an old friend than a tool.

This for me sums up perfectly what I love about vintage and antique items. The more you look at detail the more you will discover. The smallest thing can often tell you so much, and after a time you get better and better at reading between the lines and understanding the story.

That knife is still part of my personal collection, and something that I consider a family heirloom. I hope that my descendants will appreciate it's unique beauty as Ella and I do. If you would like to see a photo of it, feel free to ask and I will send you one.

Because we love so many different styles, we try to serve up a varied mix in every way. You will find a broad range of styles and prices in the shop, and you will also discover that we work for reasonable, rather than ridiculous profits. You probably won't love everything you see, but we hope that there is something here for just about everyone.
