All rock oil candle lamps include a oil starter set which contains a small bottle of ultra-pure paraffin oil, a mini funnel for filling and candle filling instructions.

Pull the wick and glass wick tube out together. Try not to separate to keep wick from fraying. Insert the mini funnel into hole in top of rock. Use provided oil to fill glass reservoir up about 3/4 of the way. Re-insert glass wick tube and wick. Let soak for about 30 seconds. Adjust wick so it's less than 1/4 inch or less above lip of the glass tube. Wipe off any oil that may have been dripped on to the surface of the candle. Light and enjoy!

Once the complimentary ultra pure paraffin lamp oil is used up that we provide, you can use any type of lamp oil on the market.

You can also use oils from your pantry like Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Grapeseed Oil Sunflower Seed Oil and Liquid Coconut Oil. All of the oils need a little extra time absorbing into the wick but work just fine as fuel in the candles. The Grapeseed Oil and Avocado Oil have a good flame but ran out fairly quickly. Olive Oil and Liquid Coconut Oil last a long time but the Sunflower Seed oil has the longest burn time. All of the oils were smokeless and odorless.

A fresh wick,available in our shop, is recommended when experimenting with different oils.

You can control the height of the flame by the length of the wick. The shorter the wick is from the top of the glass wick holder the smaller the flame, about 1/4 inch or less showing. 

Tip: Once your oil is in the candles and wick/tube reinserted, work the wick down with your fingers until it’s just peeking above the lip of the glass wick holder.

The longer the wick, the larger the flame and the faster your fuel will burn off.

The shorter the wick, the lower the flame and your fuel will last longer.

The fuel will burn quickly if the flame in your candle is high.
