An Herbalist from the time I could walk, I spent my young life making lotions and potions while playing with the plants I befriended in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. In college, it was my dorm room that friends would visit when they wanted a facial steam and clay mask. After college I worked for a cosmetics company in NYC and learned all I could about packaging, marketing and legal claims. Along the way I came across some intriguing information about essential oils and the alternative healing modality, Aromatherapy. Out of curiosity, I requested samples of essential oils from our fragrance supplier, and that began my journey as an Aromatherapist.

Self-taught for years, I jumped at the chance in 2001 to study with the Taoist Master, Dr Jeffrey Yuen. In his year-long certification class we studied every aspect of Aromatherapy from a Chinese Medical Perspective and explored the effects of essential oils on Body, Mind and Spirit. More than anything else, that experience, and the mountains of notes I took during that year, changed my life and deeply inform the person I am today.

2010 brought me to the honeybees and to the man who is now my husband, Chris Layman. Together we care for our bees and harvest the honey, beeswax, pollen and propolis from our hives. The humming mantra of the bees provides a joyful platform for our days, while frogs and coyotes sing to us at night. Life is sweet!
