5 out of 5 starsThe charcoal and clay soap bar was a great purchase for my younger sister, who is always looking for new products to wash her face with. She was very impressed with the smoothness of the soap

5 out of 5 starsA great present for anyone with dry hands - this shea butter lotion is smooth but doesn't leave sticky residue. Great for getting soothing cracked, dry skin!

5 out of 5 starsI bought this soap from this shop a few times now, but this is probably my favorite. I loved it so much I got some for my dad too! The scent is elegantly spicy, almost like a cologne.
About GCSNS
What started off as a COVID hobby project has taken quite a wild turn.
About My Shop.
I began with the creation of my soaps in June of 2020. I had just graduated from Indiana university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology but was a little lost on what I wanted to do. I had moved back home to Brown County, Indiana to be closer to family during the height of the COVID pandemic and needed some kind of hobby project to maintain my sanity amongst the crazy going on. I picked up gardening, started reading more, and binged way too much Real Housewives when I finally discovered the art which is soap making.
I started off small by creating a simple soap using some materials I bought at Walmart and basic oils I already had in the pantry. The process took me back to the days in biology and chemistry labs from IU. I could use what I had learned about safety and sanitation and transfer that into my work and at the same time reminisce about the amazing times I spent in lab. I may have gotten a little too excited because soon I was producing multiple loaves of soap a day and had no end in sight.
My family and I can only use so much soap so I knew I would have to begin selling the soaps or else I would have a house full of the stuff and an empty bank account. I explored different websites to sell on and ended up falling in love with Etsy. The ease of using the site was the main thing that attracted me since I really did not know anything about having a business. I was a biology graduate with no experience running a business. As time went on, and many long nights on my computer searching ‘how to run a business for dummies’, I was able to build up the knowledge and confidence to create my own website and gain some independence.
That brings us to today. I don’t know where my life will take me in the future but for now I am really happy with how things are panning out!!
About My Family.
My shop is run by my family and I. I definitely do not think I could do as much as I do without the love and support that my mom provides. She has always been my biggest supporter and this is just yet again another example. She has been able to help me with the creative, final touches aspect of my products. We always joke that she is the front of the house and I am the back because she has always been so good at organizing and beautifying while I prefer to stay in the background and work the manufacturing end.
I also have a younger brother and sister who are not as cooperative but will occasionally help when I really need it. My sister is an amazing artist who was able to make beautiful handmade signs for a local shop my products were sold in for a while. My brother is the tech wizard and has helped me edit video to upload onto my Instagram and Facebook. He also helps do the grunt work jobs that I don’t really want to do but for some reason he enjoys. We all have our ups and downs but I am so appreciative for all the help and support that they have given me during this major journey.
