Mala beads, also known as prayer or meditation beads, are spiritual tools used for meditation and spiritual practice. Full, traditional malas consist of 108 beads that help the meditator or practitioner keep count of mantra decorations or affirmations, and keep the kind focused on one's intention, goal, or desire.

This mala is made of genuine gemstone beads (except where stated otherwise) and includes a handmade tassel. It is believed that the material used to create the prayer beads brings added positive energy vibration to the mantra, affirmation, or intention. Your prayer beads have been cleansed with white sage, and charged using Selenite, and comes with a coordinating organza, drawstring bag.

A mala is a great way to get your attention and energy focused on the here and now. Often people say that they can't meditate because they can't stop their minds from running. In truth, the mind is made to think, and stopping it's function isn't possible. But we can quiet it a bit by bringing our focus to one place and keeping it there.

Malas provide a way to turn our focus away from the outside world and all that's happening there. Rather than trying to stop the mind from doing it's normal and natural job, we can give it another task by asking it to turn it's attention to the beads in the mala.

First, get acquainted with your mala:

Holding your mala, take one deep, cleansing breath. Now look at the mala closely. What color is it? Does it glow or vibrate in your hands? What size are the beads? Are they gemstones, wood, shell, glass? How does your mala feel in your hands? Take a moment to simply take in all that you can observe about the mala.

Now take a deep breath, and clasp a single bead with your thumb and forefinger (or whichever fingers feel right for you). Roll it in your fingers, noticing the feel of it. Advance to the next bead, and the next, taking slow, deep breaths, as you move around the mala. When your mind wanders (and it will), gently bring your attention back to your breath and your beads.

There are several ways to use your mala. You may choose to:

Program your mala to support you with new intentions or goals;

Meditate with it using Sanskrit mantras or Buddhist chants to fit your needs;

Track your breath during breathing exercises to relieve stress, alleviate anxiety, bring greater clarity and focus to the mind;

Meditate using prayers that hold special meaning for you;

Wear it as a beautiful tassel necklace or a unique multi-strand bracelet;

Frame and hang your mala to display as a beautiful art piece.
