Beeswax Candles & Ornaments, Chalkware Santa's, Belsnickel's' and Rabbits & Springerle Ornaments are some of the treasures I make using antique chocolate molds and molds that I make myself to create holiday treasures reminiscent of days gone by. I also make hand hooked rugs and pottery.
Garden Gate Design offers unique hand-crafted beeswax candles, figurines and ornaments, Chalkware and hand-built pottery and hand hooked rugs. Candles and ornaments are made from high-quality 100% pure beeswax. See listing to find the materials used to create each piece in the pottery section and hand hooked rugs sections.
Every item I make will provide enjoyment for years to come for a very small investment. Beeswax that is over 2,000 years old has been found in the ancient pyramids in Egypt and it is still pliable.
My candles are cast using my collection of antique chocolate, ice cream and springerle cookie molds. I also use molds that I design myself at my studio in Lewes, Delaware. All pottery and hooked rugs are my own one-of-a-kind creations.

I use my collection of antique chocolate molds and molds I have created to make candles, wax figurines and chalkware.

I have always enjoyed working with my hands to make things. Growing up in Virginia as a teenager I bought a kit to build a canoe, well that was biting off a little to much and I was not to successful. In my early adult years my career took front seat and my creativity was only used to duplicate what I saw in magazines primarily gardening. As a result, I have one of the more beautiful yards in my community. In the early 90's I discovered rug hooking and continue to pursue that endeavor with some success, exhibiting, in various venues on the east coast, Midwest and even in Tokyo Japan. I have been published in Rug Hooking magazine, the Baltimore Sun newspaper, and a book Hooked on Rugs by Jessie Turbayne.

Since retiring I have started to collect antique chocolate and ice cream molds and have decided to use those molds to created candles, wax figurines and chalkware additionally I have expanded that to included molds that I have created myself.

My creativity continues to grow with an interest in pottery which I am now selling here on Etsy and soon to offer some of my rug hooking's and of course continue to grow my beeswax and chalkware offerings.
