My Story

After a varied career in a variety of fields and without any art training, Ge-
rard Christopher began creating visually complex and colorful collages

on artboard from book and magazine cuttings, with various themes such

as urban streetscenes, floral sprays, fashion and architecture. He then ex-
panded into assemblage pieces of boxes, found objects, cuttings, costume

jewelry and paint. A purchase of hand-made paper opened a new creative
vein and he began to create intricately layered collages highlighting texture,

color and shape. His work is constantly evolving as he encounters new ma-
terials and ideas.

Gerard was born in Canton and grew up in nearby Quincy, Massachusetts. The house was too small and the family too large, so he left home at the age of 14. He lived on the streets until he met his spouse in 1978. They’ve lived together ever since,
