come into contact with silver;
- silver blackens in contact with onions, eggs, salt, rubber and household gas (propane, butane).
The main cause for silver blackening is the reaction of silver with sulfur, sulfur compounds, and iodine. This sulfur and iodine is a component of above-mentioned air, sweat, medications, chemicals, cosmetic and food products. Exactly, for this reason, it is necessary to follow jewelry wearing, care, and storage instructions in order to silver articles longer maintain their original appearance.
Do not wear jewelry, when you
- tide up rooms, wash dishes or do other household chores;
- use detergents;
- wash your hands;
- have sports activities;
- take a shower or bath;
- visit the solarium, sauna, and baths;
- sunbathing or swimming;
- apply hand creams, ointments, and other skin care products;
- apply cosmetics (hairspray, perfume, etc.);
- go to sleep, and when the jewelry can be damaged mechanically, thermally or chemically.
In order to silver articles longer maintain their original appearance, they in evenings after removing them should be wiped with a soft chamois or flannel cloth.
When removed, jewelry is recommended to be stored in small plastic bags which are possible to close or in special jewelry boxes.
