I learned L'Arte D'Arrangiarsi — the art of creating something from nothing — from my Italian family while I was living in Italy. It's my way of expressing what it means to cook by feel, instinct, and momentary inspiration. I apply this Italian philosophy to my food creating dynamic, ingredient-driven dishes for private clients in Los Angeles.
Each year I return to Italy to visit with friends and family. While abroad I learn new skills, techniques, & dishes in addition to bringing back inspiration that I then pass onto my clients.
For me, cooking really began with that first box of Betty Crocker Blueberry Muffin Mix when I was 7 that I made while my dad was at work & mom was taking a nap...or you could even say it goes back to one of my earliest childhood memories of sitting on the counter licking the spoon my mother used to make the chocolate chip cookies she was panning. You could also blame my grandmother for regifting me with an advance level cookbook at the age of 9....what nine year old makes croissants, cinnamon rolls, & braided coffee cakes? Fortunately I had my mother there to explain some of the techniques I didn't understand.
As I got older, I was taught how to make the family pasta sauce recipe. This eventually lead into an obsession with Italian cooking which is evident in me as a person today.
This shop is long overdue. For the past 13 years, friends & family have been pushing me to create this product line and sell my sauces. After having my private clientele wipe out all my private stock, I began to see why my friends, & most importantly my partner were so adamant about creating this shop. Within the first six weeks of having my product available for purchase directly through me on FaceBook & one other specialty site, I sold over 90 jars. I hope over the course of the year to add more products & get Giorgio & Gianni into local Farmer's Markets.
