Crafting Green is what it's all about in the Studio
I know it sounds like a cliche, but believe me its not! I really am all about crafting green-wise.
And, filling custom orders is where every new search for green-wise material begins. I see it as a great adventure to seek out that very special, sometimes vintage, find. Whether its previous life was as a table cloth, pillowcase or lovely dress w/a worn hem, it will now become your very own one-of-a-kind handbag or apron or gift bag, etc., etc.
Another way I love to craft my goodies for you is by painting my own design on a piece of fabric. You will see some photographs of my painted aprons in this 'About' section, but be sure to check the studio listings frequently as these change often.
Here's a little background information on the artist in me:
--My Grandmother taught me to sew by hand when I was 5 years old. She and mom were always busy making things like dresses, costumes, or curtains and I watched every step of the way. (I learn best from watching.)
--By age 10, I had my very first sewing machine and began making my own clothing. (I was very tiny and nothing in the stores off the rack would fit me.) I am one of three girls born in my family, but I am the one with the sewing gene.
--When I was a teenager, I recall watching as my mom created awesome costumes for a band of musicians (think 60's and Elvis jumpsuits). I was enthralled from that moment forward with what could be accomplished with a little know how and a sewing machine.
Many years after my husband and I left our 9 to 5 jobs in the city, we relocated to the rural community of Ellijay, Georgia. We have been entrepreneurs ever since we came here, and in 2012, I was introduced to a little co-op business for artists in Ball Ground, Georgia. I began crafting and selling. My purses were a big hit!
In no time, I realized I needed an inexpensive way to get supplies to keep my craft going. Local thrift stores became my favorite hangouts. Each time I sold items in the co-op, I'd reinvest the money into supplies. I followed that motto for the first year and before long, I had accumulated a huge stash from which to create. I shop for mostly neutral items, and the very unusual, and always I go for natural fibers. Occasionally, I paint my own fabrics, creating very unique materials for my craft. I am always receiving donated goods from which to create. I am very grateful that my craft has led me down this Green-wise path.

I try to add NEW items weekly. Ultimately, my goal is to add a new item each day, until I reach 200 items for sale. So check back often.
