Go against the grain.
While anonymous, mass production is losing its market appeal, there's a growing movement towards owning things whose origins extend beyond an assembly line. Handmade objects have an inherent history as do the roots of the material. As the maker behind all things Greta de Parry, it's important that my hand shows through in each piece.
I'm a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a background in Sculpture, Designed Objects, & Graphic Illustration. In 2007 I was recruited as the sole artist in residence in a post-graduate woodworking and furniture making program affiliated with SAIC, and had the privilege to work alongside master woodworker, logger, craftsman, carpenter, musician, and all around awesome dude, Mr. Mike Jarvi.
During my residency I refined my formal skills by focusing on the fine art of woodworking and furniture making. I always knew if I did something I loved, passion would be my fuel and doors would open along the way.
Today I am thrilled and honored to be able to share my craft with you, and look forward to continue bringing you playful, beautiful, resourceful pieces that go against the grain.
