This collar is so well made and looks beautiful on her. The fabric is a great quality and she seems very comfortable wearing it. Will definitely be ordering her next collar from your shop!

About

Stylish handmade martingale collars, tag collars and leashes for your dogs

Our life with Greyhounds began in 2002 with our first adoption. With Riley by our side, I was inspired to start a small business in 2006 from my home called Greyt Escape (Your Greyhound's Vacation Destination!) nestled between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains in Tucson, Arizona. Next to the Saguaro National Park we enjoy an abundance of nature and wildlife.

Back then, it was hard to find a nice martingale collar so, a few years later I began sewing again and started Greyt Escape Accessories. Adding the most beautiful, fun colorful and sometimes quirky trims to each piece.

I spend my days between caring for the rescued greyhounds, adding new designs to Greyt Escape Accessories, and filling up Chella Bella Designs also here on Etsy. In addition, I help head a fundraiser (Beading Divas To The Rescue) and grow a 4 seasons organic garden.

Enjoy your shopping experience and don't forget to post photos of your hounds wearing Greyt Escape collars to the Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/GreytEscapeGreyhounds

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

It is recommended that you take your dogs current collar and lay it next to a ruler. This will show you the current size it inches.

Don't have a current collar?
Take a piece of string and measure your dogs neck. Lay the string next to a ruler to get the size in inches.

When measuring a collar, you are getting the "exact size". It is recommended that you order a collar that has at least 4" of adjustment space to securely adjust it to you hounds size.

Sizing details

How Do I measure for a martingale collar?

If your dog currently wears martingale collar, you can check for sizing on the label. Otherwise, measure your dogs neck and head.

One of the most important questions is:

"Is your dogs head bigger or smaller than their neck?"
~Because there is no clasp or buckle on the martingale collar, the collar needs to be able to go over the dogs head and be readjusted.

Measure your dogs neck and widest part of the head (usually under the chin and up around the ears). These two measurements give you a high and low number to be used when ordering the collar.

It is recommended that you leave a couple inches on the high & low end of the size you measured so that you have room to adjust the collar.

Sizing details

Is this collar too wide or narrow?

This is a decision only you can make. What is your dogs current collar width? Does that width suit your needs? Dogs with short necks tend to wear more narrow collars. Dogs with long necks do well with the wider versions. Because every breed is different, you are the best person to determine their needs.

Care instructions

Can I wash this collar?

Yes. Spot cleaning is most recommended due to the fine details of the trim. However, I have washed many versions of the collars my own hounds have worn without much change in finish.

Wash on gentle, cold water, mild detergent. Lay flat to dry. Some trim may fade or lose the metallic finish. However, the webbing will not stretch or fade.

If fibers in the trim are loose due to daily wear & tear, try lightly heating them with a match or lighter (without burning them!) prior to washing. Loose fibers can occur due to scratching, rolling around, rough play, etc.

Custom and personalized orders

Can I return / exchange a custom item?

Because the item was made specially for you, it cannot be exchanged or returned unless the finished product does not match the request. I.E. wrong size, trim, etc...

Local Orders

Though I realize that local buyers may not want to pay shipping, I do not have store front and am unable to "meet" for purchase pick-ups. I do try to keep shipping prices at a minimum however, shipping is based on the weight & size of each piece so, I do have to maintain those prices.
