My journey on Etsy started with selling hand-veneered wood boxes made by my brothers-in-law in Colombia, as well as some handmade dolls made by my mother-in-law. We had some sales, but Colombian customs nearly destroyed the items in transit, so when they reached customers, we had to replace entire orders, sending them via FedEx and losing everything we worked for.


I tried to sell some old CDs, but that was a pain.


Now, through a sculpting class, I picked up lathe turning and initially set out to make petrified-wood handles for various objects to give to my family members as part of my legacy-building. I kept going and brought the art home, which I enjoy, and I'm keen to try selling some of my pieces. I think I began my endeavor because I wanted an exotic pen, which led me to a mammoth tusk. Eventually, I bought a pen—then discovered everything I needed to make the same pen my own and offer it here, when available.
