Our Story: How HAPPYSTACK was born.
HAPPYSTACK® began with two special rescue cats - Buddy and Happy.
Buddy showed up first at our door, abused and frightened, hungry and declawed - leaving him with little ability to defend himself. But he wanted no part of living inside permanently and was determined to spend time outdoors. After a frightening encounter with a coyote, we knew he needed a safe place where he could hide, rest and escape danger while he was outside. That need inspired the very first HAPPYSTACK® - and so the first stack was built. In fact it was built so solid that it still stands today many years later.
A few months later another cat wandered onto our deck and discovered the HAPPYSTACK. He began using it as his own safe haven — climbing through the levels, sleeping inside and finding shelter there. Before long, he decided to stay too. We named him Happy, and his HAPPYSTACK became his “Happy Home.”
Buddy inspired the original idea, and Happy became living proof of exactly what it was created to provide — a safe, comfortable place for pets to climb, play, hide and rest.
That is the heart behind HAPPYSTACK® and the unique pet spaces we continue to offer today.
