Nicole makes abstract paintings from moments of immersion in the here and now.
Nicole Sylvia Javorsky is an artist based in New York City whose artwork reflects her spiritual path: exploring her soul, healing from the traumas she has survived, and connecting with her surroundings and the broader Universe. In December 2021, she released her e-book, Into the Light: Traveling between peace and pain, on her website nicolesylvia.com, where she shares her paintings and the stories behind them.
Nicole makes abstract paintings from moments of immersion in the here and now. Her paintings connect ideas from nature and the cityscape to questions and emotions she is grappling with at the time of making the artwork. And her process of painting requires her to follow her intuition, expressing feelings and ideas through different textures, colors, rhythm, and motion.
Her healing as a trauma survivor is one with her art. Healing teaches Nicole to find strength in simple moments: the gentle bend of a tulip growing toward the sidewalk or the sensation of her toes tucked into warm sand. She wants to show that art can be a method to get in touch with one’s inner core, soul values, and inner wisdom, a way to live life truly present with this world, one's self, and others. Nicole’s art is a part of her ambition to live honestly, joyously, openly, compassionately, courageously, freely, beautifully, and peacefully while still in touch with the realities of pain, struggle, and suffering.
