As a traditional oil painter, I have to make many of my own materials. Some things they just don't make any more, Sourcing and trading high-quality natural artist's materials is a necessary, though time-consuming element of studio practice.

So, many of my offerings here will come from my experience in problem-solving. My current offering in this milieu is walnut ink.

Making walnut ink is like picking raspberries. You can't mechanize the process too much, and scaling it up doesn't reduce costs. And just as nothing beats fresh raspberries, nothing beats real, handmade walnut ink.

Peat ink is next.

In the meantime, there's art, too, made by hand without cameras, projectors or photographs, made out of natural materials, and made with care. Enjoy.
