It all started with a tiny plant obsession... a Happy PLNT story.
Happy PLNT is a long-time vision come to life. As an artist, I’ve always been searching for ways to satisfy my creative bug. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats — studying Architecture, working as a lighting designer, photographer, and graphic designer — but nothing has been as fulfilling as working with these quirky little plants I fell in love with when I moved from the East Coast to San Diego.
I was instantly captivated by this city and the Southern California lifestyle — soaking up the sunshine, the nature, and especially the otherworldly plants that seemed to grow everywhere. The first time I saw a succulent, it was over. I had never encountered anything like them back East — the variety of shapes, colors, and textures completely captured my imagination. What began as a hobby of collecting, growing, and arranging soon became a full-blown obsession.
For years, I dreamed of starting a succulent floral business, but the timing never felt right. Then the pandemic in 2020 gave me space to pause, reflect, and finally take the leap. Happy PLNT was born as a blend of all my creative loves and skills — design, photography, artistry, and of course, plants.
Fast forward four years, and that “pipe dream” has grown into a thriving small business. Happy PLNT has created hundreds of living arrangements for homes, gifts, and large-scale events, while staying true to our mission: to spread joy, beauty, and sustainability through succulents.
As we celebrate our 4th anniversary, I’m so excited about what’s ahead. Our focus now is on growing our local event floral business — partnering with San Diego hotels, venues, and event professionals to bring fresh, eco-friendly décor to conferences, galas, trade shows, and celebrations of all kinds.
What started as one crazy plant lady’s passion project has blossomed into a business built on creativity, resilience, and joy. And I can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us. 🌵✨
