HermanaRed? I know what you are thinking. How do you pronounce it, and why, on earth, did I choose it for my shop name? Hermana, pronounced more like "air-MAHN-ah," is the Spanish word for "sister." It was what I was called a while ago while living in the great state of Texas. It is a name that means a great deal to me. And Red? It's the last syllable of my last name. Plus, I really do like red. And Diet Dr Pepper, but that is getting off topic.
I grew up in a home where my mom made everything we wore. Shirts, dresses, jeans. Even coats. She made my show choir outfits, my prom dresses, and then made the dress I got married in. She, by her example, instilled in me the love of not only sewing, but of creating! It wasn't until I had kids of my own that I started sewing myself, and I then understood why my mom loved it so much. It is truly gratifying to create something beautiful.
I made some of my kids clothes when they were younger, and then started quilting, which I did for many years. The doll clothes came about one year when Christmas was approaching and we had very little, if any extra, money to spend. My youngest daughter wanted an American Girl doll more than anything, but I knew it simply wasn't an option. It was then that a dear neighbor showed up with a gently loved 18" doll for us to give her that Christmas. I still don't know how she knew, but she did. I dug through my fabric scraps and made a handful of simple doll outfits, and that Christmas our daughter was in heaven.
From there I started giving clothes to friends whose daughters had dolls, then started selling them on Facebook to my neighbors and FB friends. A while later one of my dear friends helped me create and design my Etsy store, and things have moved forward from there.
So welcome to my store, where I believe that quality matters, and that being personal and kind matters even more.

5 out of 5 starsThis costume is adorable, with wonderful attention to detail and high-quality materials that should hold up very well to play time. My daughter will be Batgirl for Halloween, and she will be so surprised to get this gift for her AG doll. Seller is highly recommended, and communication was excellent.
