Hester's Studio crea cerámica artesanal para el hogar, el jardín y los wearables únicos. La naturaleza que rodea el estudio en el Valle del Hudson ha influido mucho en el trabajo. Ester se inspira en elementos de la vida cotidiana; paisajes, textiles, follaje, flores y alimentos. Hester se esfuerza por crear piezas simples para el uso diario con el deseo de expresar la belleza con utilidad. Cada pieza está construida a mano con construcción de losa, utilizando una arcilla de gres blanco fuerte. Algunas piezas incorporan diferentes elementos como el cuero y la madera. Se presta mucha atención a la estratificación de texturas, creando composiciones asimétricas. Debido a que todo está hecho a mano, no hay dos piezas exactamente iguales, cada pieza se celebra las imperfecciones y esto es lo que realmente las hace únicas en su tipo.
Desde muy temprana edad tuve interés en crear arte. No había tocado arcilla hasta que tomé una clase de cerámica en la universidad comunitaria y desde ese momento me enganché instantáneamente, me encantó la forma en que podía manipular la arcilla en lo que quisiera. Luego me trasladé a SUNY New Paltz, donde floreció mi pasión por la arcilla, y pasé a recibir mi BFA en Cerámica. El amor por la arcilla continuó después de la graduación, donde completé una residencia en el Watershed Center for the Ceramics Arts en Newcastle, Maine.
Creo mi trabajo en mi estudio casero en las montañas Shawangunk, ubicadas en el valle de Hudson. Junto con la decoración del hogar, también produzco esculturas de cerámica, donde exploro la emoción humana. Examino los momentos incómodos e incómodos, tranquilos e internos, las emociones universales por las que todos pasamos y entendemos. Me encanta que porque todo está hecho a mano no hay dos piezas exactamente iguales, celebro las imperfecciones de cada pieza y esto es lo que realmente las hace únicas.

Hester’s Studio creates handcrafted ceramics for the home, garden, and unique wearables. Nature that surrounds the studio in the Hudson Valley has heavily influenced the work. Hester draws inspiration from elements of daily life; landscapes, textiles, foliage, flowers and food. Hester strives to create simple pieces for everyday use with the desire to express the beauty with utility. Each piece is hand built with slab construction, using a strong white stoneware clay. Some pieces incorporate different elements such as leather and wood. Much attention is given to the layering of textures, creating asymmetrical compositions. Because everything is made by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike, each pieces imperfections are celebrated and this is what truly makes them one of a kind.
From an early age I had an interest in creating art. I hadn’t touched clay until I took a ceramics class in community college and from that moment I was instantly hooked, I loved the way I could manipulate the clay into whatever I wanted to. I then transferred to SUNY New Paltz where my passion for clay blossomed, and went on to receive my BFA in Ceramics. The love for clay continued after graduation where I completed a residency at Watershed Center for the Ceramics Arts in Newcastle, Maine.
I create my work at my home studio in the Shawangunk Mountains, located in the Hudson Valley. Along with home decor, I also produce ceramic sculptures, where I explore human emotion. I examine the uncomfortable and awkward, quiet and internal moments, universal emotions we all go through and understand. I love that because everything is made by hand no two pieces are exactly alike, I celebrate each pieces imperfections and this is what truly makes them one of a kind.
