A Little About My Handmade Bags
My story started with a vintage yellow rose towel I found at a thrift store. I instantly thought it would make a beautiful tote bag.
Having never made a tote bag before, I spent about two weeks thinking about how I could actually make it. I tend to do that with everything in life… overthink!..
One day, I finally got my sewing machine back out and started. Of course, it didn't go quite as easily as I had imagined. My machine kept jamming, so I ended up using my daughter's sewing machine, which she had left at our house. (She now wants it back so she can start her own projects.)
I showed my new bag to a few friends and family members, and they seemed impressed. I thought, why not make more and see if other people might like them too?
Finding vintage fabrics locally wasn't as easy as I had hoped, so I started looking for colors, textures, and fabrics that caught my eye. And here we are!
This is my first collection of tote bags, and each one has been a little experiment. I've sewn each bag differently as I've learned what works best, and I'm having fun figuring it all out along the way.
A Little About My Bags
Each tote is individually handmade by me using reclaimed and up-cycled materials. I am completely self-taught and create each piece without a commercial pattern, so no two bags are exactly alike.
Because these are handmade, you may notice small variations in stitching, seams, shape, or other details. They aren't factory-perfect—and that's part of their charm. Each bag has its own little quirks and character that come from being handmade and one of a kind.
