Modern midwest macramé- boho macramé jewelry and home decor
Welcome to Hey Macramé- here you will find handmade macramé- from boho jewelry to home decor; even macramé for your pets!
This isn't your mom's-or grandma's-macramé- don't get me wrong- I love all things vintage; I'm an 80s baby! But you know that macramé you see in old pictures? The old macramé you saw in your great aunt's house? This isn't it. For one thing, the materials are vastly improved. I use 100% cotton cord, and the majority of my colored cord is made of recycled cotton from the garment industry. That means it's soft and not brittle and rough like the synthetic cord that used to be popular.
I use this gorgeous soft cord to make a variety of items, most notably macramé dog training bells.
There's also macramé jewelry- it can't be beat. It offers such a fun boho vibe to every outfit. Also, I personally have sensitive ears, so I offer niobium ear wires for anyone who needs them.
Jewelry and dog bells aren't where I started, though. I used to find vintage macramé plant hangers at thrift stores and I had them all over my house. Eventually, though, I needed better colors and a more natural look. I bought a pattern and some rope, and that was it! I really enjoy making macramé plant hangers because there are so many ways to customize them for your space. A hanging plant can change the entire feel of a room.
I also make other accessories, like macramé water bottle bags and macramé lanyards and keychains. The fun of macramé is taking something you use every day, like your keys or a water bottle (or a wine bottle; I don't judge) and making something just for that item, to make it more useful and good looking at the same time. And the amazing part is that it can all be customized to work just how you need it to in length, color- the list goes on.
I make all of my items by hand in my basement work room- some items come together pretty quick but others can take hours- I stay focused with true crime documentaries.
Most all items will ship First Class USPS in 3-5 days. It's just me, though, so that all depends on the amount of orders I receive.
Your item will be wrapped in kraft paper and placed in a poly or bubble mailer. Earrings are placed in a kraft jewelry box for safety. As I am able, I am switching to recyclable materials as much as possible.
I would suggest hand washing your items, though some have placed their small items inside a garment bag on the delicate cycle. Never dry them in a clothes dryer.
Thank you so much for checking out my handmade macramé. Almost everything can be customized- made longer, shorter, wider, a different color- it's your choice, so feel free to message me.
