Not from machines or modern noise — but from the soft, sacred sound of singing bowls echoing through the morning air of Thamel, Kathmandu, where I was born. The streets buzzed gently with the rhythm of temple bells, chants, and hand-hammered bowls being shaped in small, hidden workshops. In my world, sound was more than noise — it was presence, energy, and peace.
As I grew older, I realized that these sounds were part of something much deeper. In Nepal, Tibetan singing bowls are more than objects — they’re spiritual tools, shaped with intention, used for meditation, ritual, and creating quiet spaces for reflection.
That connection to sound, to craft, and to tradition stayed with me — and eventually became the heart of my brand: Himalayan Hum.
Himalayan Hum is a small, Nepal-based shop that brings the spirit of the Himalayas to people around the world. We work closely with local artisans who hand-hammer every bowl using traditional techniques passed down through generations. No two are the same — each bowl carries its own tone, feel, and character.
The word “Hum” in our name reflects both sound and soul.
It echoes the deep, steady vibration of the bowls themselves — and it also draws from sacred mantras like Om Mani Padme Hum, where “Hum” symbolizes transformation, compassion, and inner stillness.
