Guided by simplicity, utility and beauty.
Honest Union creates modern 3D Printed Housewares made with local, reclaimed and renewable resources. We are guided by simplicity, utility and beauty.
The 3D printed material Honest Union utilizes is a biodegradable plastic called polylactic acid or PLA. It is derived from renewable sources such as corn, tapioca roots, and sugarcane. PLA is non toxic and extremely robust. It is often used in food handling and medical implants that biodegrade within the body over time.
Honest Union proudly collaborates with MakerGear, a local 3D printing manufacturer. MakerGear's printers are built by hand in their studio in Beachwood, Ohio, with many of the components made within driving distance from the factory including the fabricated steel frame and steel parts. Honest Union keeps their M2 printers running nearly around the clock.
The steel featured in several of Honest Union products is reclaimed from regional tank manufacturing. Despite not meeting strict standards to hold explosive gas, this metal makes a big impact on our accent tables and platform stands.
Honest Union’s housewares are simple to put together but sturdy to last. Unlike most assembly furniture that requires an allen key, our housewares use threaded wooden components that easily screw into 3D printed flanges. And whereas large manufacturers frequently use low quality MDF in their products, we proudly source local eastern Ohio hardwood. The best part about sending your housewares as flat pack is we cut down shipping cost and ultimately, the carbon footprint.
