HopeWorld Tees bring together high quality streetwear design with images of original artworks from a monumental art quilt for Gaza with artists from all over the world.

Hope in the Art World (HITAW) is an international group of artists, creators, and activists united in demanding a permanent ceasefire, an end to the Palestinian genocide, and a free Palestine. HITAW continues the long-held tradition of artist-activism, which recenters art as a medium for protest and change. HITAW’s website documents and holds a repository for these projects.

On March 24th, 2024, HITAW unfurled a massive 30’ x 50’ quilt at the steps of New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art; each 40” x 40” square was a contribution of a HITAW member. Squares were adorned and painted in shades of red, green, black, and white, with artwork depicting both Palestinian struggle and loss, but also of Palestinian love, hope, resistance, and liberation. This 2-hour demonstration was attended by hundreds of pro-ceasefire protestors and included several events such as chanting, dabke dancing, and praying in observance of Ramadan. Guerilla activists also replaced the Met’s brochures, replacing regular visitor brochures with calls for a ceasefire and awareness of the museum’s complicity in genocide. Protestors were critical of the Met Museum’s board members and endowments, as they were heavily invested and profited off the war on Gaza, as well as the fact that the continued destruction of many communities, historical sites, and artworks in Palestine contradicted the ethos of the museum– all with taxpayer money.

Along with the sale of these uniquely designed t-shirts and streetwear, HITAW has memorialized each quilt square in an archival print that is readily and easily accessible. All proceeds from the t-shirts and prints are sent to fundraise for a Palestinian family from Gaza’s immediate refuge and to reestablish the family’s dental and medical clinic, which used to serve as a cornerstone of their community’s wellbeing and was destroyed by Israel. HITAW urgently implores supporters to donate directly to this cause and/or purchase t-shirts and prints as this family, and many others, will need to be ready and able to mobilize as soon as the Rafah border is reopened.
